Orange Cookies
Actually I wanted to make my favorite Crisp Lemon Cookies but I didn't have enough lemon extract so I changed it to Orange cookies instead. We were given a packet of Lemon cookies by a friend and it was coated with powder sugar and tasted really yummy. Thus, it had given me an idea for my next cookies.
I made this orange cookies using my Crisp Lemon Cookies recipe with one modification. These cookies were really crispy and all of us loved them and it tasted great with the added powder sugar.
Ingredients:
(A)
1 1/2 cup self-raising flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup powdered sugar
(B)
1/2 cup or 1 stick of butter, softened
2 tsp. orange extract
1/2 tsp. Pure vanilla extract
1 Tbsp. milk
(C)
Powder sugar for coating
Method:
1. In a food processor, add in (A). Pulse to combine.
2. Then, add in (B) and process until a dough is formed. Take it out on a lightly flour surface and give it a few kneads. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with a cookie cutter.
3. Place on a parchment lined baking pan and bake in preheated 350'F oven for 15 minutes or until lightly brown on edges.
4. Place cookies on wire rack to cool completely and then coated each cookie with powder sugar.

such a mysterious cookies such taste awesomely good!
this photo reminds me of peanut butter and chocolate puppy chow :) but this recipe sounds like a perfect way to embrace the fall season! YUM!
Those cookies look delicious! Very pretty too!
Cheers,
Rosa
The powder sugar adds such a nice beautiful touch to the cookies. you are really good ;D
These sound lovely and delicious. I prefer a very crispy cookie, also. You know, since chocolate and orange go together so well, I'll bet a bar of Lindt Intense Orange Chocolate would be wonderful diced up inside the dough? Perhaps a little sprinkling of cocoa powder? I might try that!
look sweet and good !! I like the sugar powder coated on cookies or cake, look cool man!
Sugar coated....noooo, too sweet...it's diabetic!
But orange flavor...and lemon, sounds very sourish, aren't they?:D
looks yummy. i will have to try making these next.
Thanks BBOven, megan, rosa, noobcook. :)
Kate, your version sounded delicious!
Thanks beachlover. Yeah even my hubby who normally doesn't eat cookies couldn't stop eating it.
Christy, actually not too sweet, I think the cookies itself not very sweet, so it paired well with the powder sugar. The lemon and orange don't provide sour taste to the cookie, just the fragrant. Orange fragrant is not as intense as the Lemon, so I still prefer lemon cookies. ;)
Thanks ange, hope you like it.
These cookies look really yummy and different! Thanks for the great idea.
Quite a lot of dusting sugar wor....just nice for black kopi :P
Oh hahaha, those cookies can't come to my home else the A**S will come marching in. :P
Yay, you've made the orange version and they look just as delicious!
Hi, I just love your baking posts! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I'm saving them for when I actually have time to learn to bake.
I'm a big fan of sweets ever since I had my first baby (NO idea why I developed a sweet tooth)?
You're welcome Hillary.
Yes Tigerfish, very nice.
Haha sig, luckily we don't have that problem here.
Thanks Lore. :)
Implosion, no idea why you developed sweet tooth. But my baking recipes are fairly easy for beginner to start. ;)
Should taste great with the powder sugar. Reminds me of the hock chiew crispy biscuits which were made during midautumn festval also coated with powder sugar back in my hometown.
Awesome idea by coating the cookies with powder sugar!! I am guessing my big baby (aka hubby) will love these cookies ;-))
It is sweet jasmine. My hubby and two girls loved this cookies. The power of icing sugar huh? LOL!
