I bought myself a packet of dried seaweed (Dolkak-Cham Miyuk) at H-Mart while shopping with Lily the other day. She told me a little bit would do because it expands a lot. So, I just used a scissor to cut a small corner off and soaked it in hot water. After 30 minutes, when I opened the cover, whoa! it really EXPAND A LOT and thus I left with extra seaweed. I only need about 1/2 cup for my Gochujang tofu soup. So, what about the rest of the seaweed? I need to do something with it and thus turned it into the seaweed salad that I concocted myself.
Salad Dressing for about 3/4 cup of seaweed:
1 tsp. sesame paste
3/4 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. rice vinegar
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. of sesame oil
Sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds
(Estimation only, so season to taste!)
This seaweed is high in calcium and iron and really good for us. Not to say, it tasted very good too, slightly chewy yet soft and so good in Sundubu Jjgae! It's great added in the cold noodle or just eaten with a simple salad dressing like the above.

Looks healthy and green! Yummy!
I made the same mistake too the last time. Thought one handful of dried ones were just nice but after soaking in water...became so much! Ended up a lot in my soon dubu tofu stew!:o

Hi littlecornerofmine,
I love this seaweed too and so does my little girl. Yes, a little goes a long way, I learnt my lesson the 1st time. Haha, and one pkt lasts forever! I usually do not finish it by expiry. Lovely with soup.
nice dressing! looks really healthy and with a 'texture' bite!
Looks healthy! Is that similar with seeweed for sushi?

Hi Tigerfish,
Yes, it's different from the Chinese black seaweed so it was unexpected. Well, lesson learned!
Thanks beachlover! Yup, I get to shop with Lily Ng. It's always nice to shop with friend as I can pick up certain thing that I normally never thought of buying.
Thanks Kelly! :)
Hi Singairishgirl,
Thanks for dropping by. Yes, it's really good in soup, either in miso or gochujang, can't wait to make more. :)
Thanks daphne! :)
Hi Retno,
It's not the same as the seaweed for sushi. When you soaked this in water, it looks more like fresh seaweed from the sea.
Hi big boys oven,
Thanks for your compliment! :)
Hi cooking ninja,
