Banana Fritters/ Kuih Kodok

I finally found a quick and easy way to get rid of my ripen banana instead of use it for banana cake. That is to make banana fritters, it's easier, less thing for me to wash, and can use as little as one banana! I don't know about you, but I hardly left with 3 ripen bananas that nobody wants to eat. It will either be one or two and that was not enough to make banana cake or muffin. So, I adapted my recipe from Isha's kuih kodok. And since I only have two black banana looking at me instead of three, this is what I did,

Ingredients:

2 bananas, smashed
1 large brown egg
1/3 cup of flour
pinch of salt
2 tsp. fulled of cane sugar

In a mixing bowl, smashed the bananas with a fork.  Add in egg, salt and sugar.  Mix well.  Use a small cookie and scoop into a medium heat hot oil (be careful as it brown easily, make sure the heat is low so that it will cook in the inside of the fritter) and deep-fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towel before serving.

Verdict: It's a tasty snack indeed, goes very well with afternoon tea. Thanks Isha! :)

Note: Recipe revised on June 9th, 2013.

I thought "leopard" banana is already bad, black banana is worse....hahaha!
Definitely a keeper recipe for me since I don't bake! Thanks! My bananas have not turned black yet so I will try it when they have a chance to turn black :P

Hi Ning's Mummy,
1/3 cup is 40 gram. It's easy lah and yummy too. Do try it!

Haha Tigerfish! More like lots of "leopard" banana lah, a little still not enough, must be a lot, if not not as sweet.

Hi Andaliman,
Wah, so hard to pronounce, godog gedang! We called it kuih kodok, good for the leftover banana.

Hi Blur Mommy,
Let me go look at Florence's recipe and see whether I can use just one banana to do it. ;)

Got some very-very ripe finger bananas couldn't get to it fast enough.

Found your recipe and I made this for my boy 2 days in a row. Today, I made it with Bisquick (pancake mix) instead of flour. Came out great, too!

Thanks for the recipe!

Hiya, think you may be missing some liquid from this recipe? Either milk or water to make it into a dropping consistency batter? All the Best x

Little Corner of Mine said...

Anon, the liquid came from the egg and smashed banana (the thawed frozen banana has even more liquid content).
