No bread at home but want to eat bread with the pork floss I bought so how? Have to take out my breadmaker and start making bread. Since it's freezing cold over here and I'm too lazy to shape and prove my bread, the easiest way is to let the breadmaker do everything. Yeah, I don't want to wash the extra pan nor turn on my oven!
I decided to play around with the recipe again and turned this milk loaf bread into Green Tea flavor. This is the recipe I used because I'm out of heavy cream and I really like milk loaf. I used 1 whole egg instead of 35g of egg, what am I going to use with the leftover half an egg huh? I also used 2% fresh milk instead of skim. In addition, I also added 1/2 tsp. green tea powder and 1 tsp. bread improver. Set my breadmaker to Basic, Light Crust and 1.5 lb. and have my bread ready in 2.5 hours.
Not bad at all. It's soft and fluffy with green tea flavor. My girls ate half of the bread while it's still warm so only got five pieces left for tomorrow breakfast. By the way, I find cutting the bread is a challenge, when do you supposed to cut the bread, when it's still warm or when it's cool down completely? The bread is so soft so I basically have to squeeze the bread to cut it with my serrated knife when it's still warm (the side crust is still a bit hard so I can grab hold on it). I'm afraid when it's all soft I will have no way to slice it. So, I sliced my bread when it's still warm and put them in an air-tight container. When and how do you normally slice your bread?
Hmmm...should have used the timer so that I can wake up with a fresh loaf of bread huh?
So envy ler.. can make so nice looking bread. I bought a bread machine 2 months back and have been trying 3 times just a simple plain on white bread.. and none of them taste and looks good. some the crust is too hard, the bread is not soft and some taste like flour gezz.. wonder should i return the machine since still witin 90 days :(

ReplyDeleteI cut out crust while the bread is still warm 'coz like you I also like the crispy crust. But as for the rest of the bread, I normally slice it after it has cool down completely. I find slicing while it is still warm a great challenge in getting the right thickness.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of waking up to fresh bread in the morning :D That is what's tempting me to get a breadmaker, hehe. Yours turned out beautifully, looks lovely and soft. You are supposed to cut your bread after it was cooled down. Warm bread is too soft to slice. At the bakery, they always tell us to choose cool loaves of bread if we want them to slice for us with the machine.

ReplyDeleteMy bread machine is less than $40 at WalMart (now might be $43, might be on sales for $38, not sure). So, if yours is more expensive, why not just return to Target and buy the cheaper one at WalMart?

That is a good looking loaf of bread. You can see is soft and light. I never attempt to make this kind of bread before. Do you have a recipe without using a bread machine?

I think you can still use the same recipe to make the bread without the breadmaker. It's just like how to make the buns. Mix it into a dough using a food processor or hands and let it proof cover with cling wrap til double in size. Then, punch and knead a few times and shape them like in the link I provided (the recipe) and let it proof til double again before baking it in a preheated 350'F oven for 30-35mins. The crust is soften making it this way.

Oh Gert, just make sure you use the instant yeast, the one without have to add with water.

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Gert. BTW, do you know you can proof your bread in the oven? The oven temp. has to be the lowest, 170/180'F. It will proof the bread nicely and faster too. I used this method during winter.

Yay!! Cocoa, see just need to use the right recipe. Remember for the kaya, you need to blend it smooth with a blender. Do try the one with the heavy cream, it's even softer and fluffier. ;)
Finally made this today! Came out really well! Couldn't taste the green tea though. Will add more next time.
ReplyDeleteMy bread maker makes a minimum of a 2lb loaf. So, I doubled your recipe.
The serrated knife really helped with the cutting. I waited 5 minutes after it beeped and cut right into it!

Btw, instead of the 500g bread flour (since I doubled the recipe) I used 400g bread flour and 100g milk powder.
And I did the whole process on the bread machine.
