Stir-fried Green Beans with Bell Pepper & Carrot

I created this dish because I was tired of eating the green beans cooked in my usual way. I wanted to slice it differently and cook it differently for a change. A fresh dish to serve on my dining table instead of the familiar dish that we used to. So, I thought cutting the green beans into smaller pieces would be a start. Then followed by carrot and red bell peppers. I added minced garlics and minced sweet salted turnip (chai por) for extra flavor. I kept the seasoning easy because I wanted it to be light. So, I seasoned it to taste with salt, chicken granules and sesame oil. The green bean was crunchy and infused with the fragrant of sesame oil. I like it and will be cooking this dish in future for variation.

What is your favorite way of stir-frying the green beans?

When I´m so lazy, I just fry it direct from the packung..he..he. I love ready to use butter vegetables. My other version, I like to combine it with tofu or tempeh or with shrimps, chili and soy sauce.

I favorite way of cooking green beans is pretty similar to yours. I like green beans or long beans, chai por, shrimp, carrots and peanuts in it. The other way is just stir fry with garlic. Your dish look so colorful.

Oh Retno, I like your version of combined it with tofu and shrimps and stir-fry with chili. :)

Gert, I have never try adding peanuts before, interesting!

Haha Vanquising Twin, that's typical! :)

Thanks VG.

Thanks skinnymum. What to do, if I always cook the same dishes, I will have nothing to post. :P

Beachlover, haha.. I like it with spicy sambal shrimp too, but now with two little ones, I have to create non-spicy dish for them.

Thanks Daphne.

Ching,

Just slice thinly the green beans & make into omelettle style or another way is to stir fry with black bean sauce with ck breast.

for me, cut green bean in 1cm length, stir fry it until 80% done, then add in 2-3 egges to make it egg+green bean dish!

alternatively, i cook 四大天王:use my home make sambal belancan paste to stir fry 4 types of vege all together, namely: petai, green bean, kacang bendi and eggplant. I learn this recipe from one of my favorite restaurant in Penang.

As u know, Penangite typically prefer hot, spicy and sour taste, or anything that is 口味重!

Oh Gigi, I like 四大天王 too! But very hard to prepare this dish here as my hubby doesn't eat egg plant, I couldn't find petai and 4 angle beans here, very susah.

Thanks BBOven!

Hi bengbeng,
You should look through my other home cook dishes, mostly are very easy hor! ;)

Love the colours! And it works well that they were all cut in similar sized pieces. My favourite way with green beans is to slice them very thinly on the diagonal and then stir fry with finely sliced or julienned carrots, garlic and silver fish (银鱼; like tiny white ikan bilis).

Hi, I stumbled into ur blog and found ur recipes are easy to follow. What i usually do is chop the dried shrimps together with the garlic. Then I slice thinly the carrots into small sticks..and slant the green beans..then i just fry it and seasoned with salt..
Another way, DIY recipe was i put some bean paste, alot of shallots, and garlic, fry it, I included the TauKi(i hv left overs) add some water, and let it simmer till the beans are soft..and season with salt..it taste fantastic..
:)
